Post 3: The climate change
Climate change’s a reality that affects millions of people around the world, becoming the greatest environmental crisis in history given the unusual speed of events. According to the Group of Experts on Climate Change: since 1880 the average temperature has risen 0.85潞C, the sea level has risen 9 cm and the Arctic has lost 1.07 million km2 of ice per decade.
Until recently the world had focused its efforts on trying to limit CO2 emissions. However, according to the latest research, efforts should focus on promoting policies for adaptation and mitigation to this, aiming to analyze how to reduce the negative consequences of climate change and take advantage of the opportunities that may arise. Among these measures, it’s proposed to bet on renewable energy, promote sustainable mobility and food sustainability, reforest forests and, above all, create action protocols of climatic emergencies. Finally, it’s possible to emphasize that the real problems are ignorance and misinformation, but it’s on us to realize that it’s possible and urgent to act in a real and proactive way in society.
Ignorance and misinformation will always be bad, that is why you must generate public policies aimed at informing.
